I transform math instruction in self contained special education classrooms so that all students show progress.
I’m embarrassed to say this, but I’m just now learning about multi-sensory math instruction. I’ve been a special education teacher for 12 years.
And now I’m learning the importance of numeracy!? I was in my 4th year of teaching when I learned about applied behavior analysis! Do you relate to that feeling of… Why am I just now learning this?
If so, you’re in a safe zone. No judgement here. I want to help other teachers like me learn about these crucial instructional pieces that can change the lives of our students!
I like to tell people that I got my Master’s degree in getting people to do things they don’t want to do, i.e., applied behavior analysis. [It’s actually in special education, emphasis autism, but ABA was such a big part of that, that I think it counts.]
Join with me if you want to learn about the importance of having a strong foundation in numeracy and about multisensory instruction in math!
