Welcome to Just Different Church!

My vision

I envision local churches eagerly incorporating people with disabilities into every aspect of their worship, community and service.

Let me explain why I chose some of those key words.

eagerly — because God wants us to compel others to come in so his house will be filled! Luke 14:23

incorporating — because we are the body (corpus) of Christ and we need every member of the body.

worship — our worship is how we relate to God

community — how we relate to each other

service — how we relate to others around us

What’s with the name?

Why call it Just Different Church? Because being different is just different. We shouldn’t compare to see who is better and who is worse, faster or slower, smarter or not-so-smart. We’re all just different.

Now what?

You already know that the Bible commands us to love one another. But how do you do that when you meet someone with a disability? When that person attends church with you, how can you fellowship with them, talk with them and encourage them? What does the Bible say about people with disabilities?

I will soon be launching a course, Theology of Disability, that will help you answer these questions. By the end of the course, you will have a greater understanding of what the Bible says about people with disabilities (and about all of us!). And you will know how to align your actions with this understanding of God and ourselves.
